A typical snorkeling cruise from Nadi takes you out to the Mamanuca Islands for a full day on the water. You’ll get a continental breakfast on the boat, a couple of snorkel stops in relatively shallow reefs, lunch (often a BBQ), and time to swim or relax on a small beach. The reefs are decent rather than mind-blowing—expect to see colorful fish, small coral gardens, and the occasional turtle. Water is warm and clear most of the year, but the boat carries 20–40 people so it’s social rather than intimate. Total time away is usually 7–9 hours.
Best time is May to October when the seas are calmer and visibility is better. December–March brings warmer water but more chance of rain, wind, and rougher rides. Expect to pay around $150–$220 per person depending on inclusions and group size; drinks and gear rental are sometimes extra. Pick a smaller-vessel option if available—they reach the sites faster and feel less crowded. Skip the upgrade to a “premium” island if it’s just another crowded beach stop with loud music.
