Expect a half-day boat trip that usually includes two snorkel stops over shallow reefs. The water is warm and clear most days, with decent numbers of tropical fish, a few small rays, and patchy coral. It's not world-class snorkeling like the Pacific, but it's relaxing and fun for beginners. Trips typically last 3–4 hours, include basic gear, fruit, and drinks. The ride can get choppy if the wind picks up, and boats are often crowded with 20–40 people.
Best time is April–July when seas are calmer and visibility is usually 10–20 meters. December–March has more wind and waves. Expect to pay around $45–75 per person for a standard catamaran tour; private or small-group options run $90–130. Avoid anything under $40—it usually means rushed stops and poor equipment.
Pick a morning departure to beat the afternoon wind and get better light. Skip the “snorkel with sharks and rays” add-ons; those are mostly in a penned area with nurse sharks that are fed. Bring your own mask and snorkel if you have them—rental gear is often old and leaks.
