A speedboat tour is one of the better ways to see the coastline and islands around Dubrovnik. Expect 4–6 hours on a rigid inflatable boat with 6–12 other people, bouncing across the water to visit sea caves, the famous Blue Cave, and one or two swimming stops. The ride itself is fast and fun but can get choppy; you’ll get wet. The caves are genuinely impressive when the light is right, and the swimming spots have that clear Adriatic water you came for. It’s not a luxury cruise – it’s a full-day excursion that leaves you tired but happy.
The best time is late spring (May–June) or early autumn (September–early October). Seas are calmer, crowds are thinner, and you avoid the brutal July–August heat and boat traffic. Expect to pay around $80–130 per person depending on group size, duration, and whether snacks or drinks are included. Private tours for 4–8 people run noticeably higher.
Pick a small-group tour (max 8–10) that includes the Blue Cave and at least one decent swim stop; those are the highlights. Skip the ones that cram in too many islands or add a “Game of Thrones” angle – the extra stops usually mean less time in the water and more time listening to a bored skipper’s script. Book a morning departure so you’re back before the afternoon wind picks up.
