Sunset Beltline Walk in Atlanta

The Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail turns into a relaxed, social scene at sunset. Expect a wide, paved path lined with street art, metal sculptures, and patches of greenery. You'll pass converted warehouses, plenty of places to grab a drink or bite, and a mix of locals walking dogs, runners, and other visitors. It's flat, easy, and about 2-3 miles if you do the popular central stretch. At dusk the city lights start to flicker on while the sky turns orange—nice without being overly dramatic. Crowds pick up on weekends but it's rarely overwhelming.

Best from late spring through early fall when days are long; aim to start walking around 7-8pm so you're out during the color change. Expect to pay around $0-40 total: the walk itself is free, but most people grab a beer or casual meal along the way. In summer, humidity can still be high even at sunset, so bring water.

Tip: Start near the Ponce City Market area and head south; the views and density of stops feel more rewarding that direction. Skip trying to do the entire Beltline in one go—focus on the Eastside Trail instead. Wear comfortable shoes and bug spray if you're sensitive; the path is exposed in spots.
