Sunset Dhow Cruise in Doha: Worth It?

A sunset dhow cruise in Doha is a relaxed evening on the water aboard a traditional wooden boat. You’ll sail along the city’s modern skyline, past the Museum of Islamic Art and the lit-up skyscrapers of West Bay as the sun drops. Most trips last 90 minutes to two hours and include soft drinks, Arabic coffee, dates, and a decent buffet dinner with grilled meats, rice, salads, and desserts. The boat is usually comfortable with cushioned seating, restrooms, and some have upper decks for better photos. It’s tourist-oriented but still one of the better ways to see Doha from the sea without needing your own yacht.

The best time is November to March when it’s cooler and the humidity is lower. Summer cruises exist but feel sticky even after sunset. Expect to pay around $55–85 per person for a standard shared cruise with dinner; private options start noticeably higher. Go for the classic wooden dhow with dinner rather than the cheap no-meal version. Skip the add-on city tour if you’re short on time or already sightseeing during the day — the boat ride itself is the part worth doing.
