The real payoff is the Long Room upstairs: a soaring 18th-century library with 200,000+ old books stacked floor to ceiling. Most visitors walk through in under an hour. It's genuinely impressive if you like manuscripts or historic libraries, but can feel crowded and underwhelming if you're not especially interested in medieval illumination.

Best time is shoulder season (March-May or September-October) on a weekday morning right after opening. Summers are packed with tour groups; wet winter days are quieter but the campus feels bleak. Expect to pay around €15-€20 for a standard ticket. Guided walking tours that include the college grounds add roughly €10-15 more and are worth it if you want context on the campus history; otherwise the self-guided option is fine.
