A typical zipline canopy tour out of Liberia lasts 2.5–3.5 hours and includes 8–12 lines, a couple of bridges, and usually a short rappel. You’ll be harnessed up, given a quick safety briefing, then spend most of the time gliding through dry tropical forest or above a canyon. The adrenaline is real but the scenery is drier and browner than the rainforest tours on the Caribbean side. Expect heat, lots of dust in the dry season, and solid physical effort hiking between platforms. The optional add-ons (water slide into a pool or long rappel) are fun if you like variety, but they stretch the tour and add waiting time.
Best time is December to March when it’s dry and the lines are faster; June–November is greener but you’ll get rained on and some tours may cancel. Expect to pay around $65–95 for a standard zipline tour, $110–140 if you do the combo with the big water slide and lunch. The combo is popular but adds a lot of downtime.
Tip: Book the pure zipline + rappel version and skip the water slide unless you really want the pool — it’s a long walk back up and the lunch is average. Wear closed-toe shoes with good grip, bring a dry shirt for after, and don’t overthink it. It’s a solid half-day activity if you’re staying in the Liberia area, but it’s not the most spectacular canopy tour in Costa Rica.
