The massive earthwork remains of one of the largest Roman amphitheatres in Britain, built in the early 2nd century when Corinium (now Cirencester) was the second-largest Roman city in Britain with a population over 10,000. The amphitheatre could hold about 8,000 spectators and visitors can explore the site during daylight hours year-round.
