A 110-meter tall Catholic monument and shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, overlooking Lisbon from a clifftop in Almada. The statue was erected as a national tribute to express gratitude that Portugal was spared the direct destructive effects of World War II. Visitors can see the monument's outstretched arms, visit the sanctuary building with its chapels and galleries, and enjoy views of the Tagus River and Lisbon from this isolated hilltop location.
