Frederiksborg Castle is a 17th-century Renaissance palace built by King Christian IV on three islets in Castle Lake in Hillerød, representing the largest Renaissance complex in the Nordic region. Since 1878, it has housed the Museum of National History, showcasing 500 years of Danish history through portraits, paintings, furniture, and applied art. Visitors can explore the richly decorated castle interior, the Chapel with its original Christian IV-era decoration and historic Compenius organ, and walk through the surrounding Baroque and English-style gardens.
