Chumash Painted Cave State Historic Park protects a small sandstone cave in Santa Barbara containing some of the finest remaining rock art created by Chumash Native Americans. Visitors hike to view the cave's walls covered in Chumash paintings, an important cultural touchstone, now protected behind a metal gate against vandalism.
