Founded in 1732 by two French brothers, Bertrand is the world's oldest continuously operating bookstore, certified by Guinness World Records. The 18th-century building houses floor-to-ceiling wooden shelves with Portuguese and English-language books, international newspapers and magazines, plus a literary-inspired café in back.
