The National Museum of Maldives, established in 1952, houses a diverse collection of historical artifacts spanning from pre-Islamic Buddhist era artifacts to royal antiquities from Islamic monarchs, including thrones, royal textiles, coins, weapons, and ornaments. Visitors can view relics of Maldivian history displayed across a three-story old building and a newer Chinese-financed structure, both located within the historic Sultan Park on the grounds of the former 17th-century royal palace compound.
