Mitaki-dera is a sacred temple nestled deep in the mountains, named for the three waterfalls within its grounds and featuring a vermilion two-storied pagoda recognized as a prefectural cultural property. Visitors hike a 3-kilometer course led by volunteer guides, walking past stone Buddha images, literary monuments, and the cascading waterfalls whose sounds are said to soothe the spirit.
