The Museo Maya de Cancún houses one of Mexico's most significant archaeological collections of Maya culture, featuring artifacts from Quintana Roo and major sites including Palenque, Chichén Itzá, and Comalcalco spanning two thousand years of history. The museum's three exhibition halls present the chronology and development of Quintana Roo's Maya cities, general aspects of Maya civilization including writing and calendars, and temporary exhibitions. Visitors also access the San Miguelito Archaeological Zone through a jungle trail, where structures from pre-conquest Maya settlements remain.
