Omoide Yokocho is a bar district dating back to the post-war period, located near Shinjuku Station's West Exit with approximately 80 premises including around 60 bars and restaurants, mostly motsuyakiya and yakitoriya establishments. The district retains its original Showa-period nostalgic atmosphere, having grown from an open-air market that formed in Tokyo's burnt-out ruins immediately after World War II. It remains popular with both overseas tourists and locals seeking affordable food and drinks in its bustling 2,000 m² setting.
