Pirita Convent was a Bridgettine monastery functioning from 1407 to 1575, and served as the largest convent in Livonia with a main church of 1360 square meters—the largest church building in Medieval Estonia. Visitors can explore the ruins of this historic complex, which was sacked and burned by Russian troops under Ivan the Terrible during the Livonian War in 1577.
