A 17th-century Franciscan church consecrated in 1622, this colonial-era building is one of the oldest in Chile and has survived approximately 15 earthquakes of magnitude 7 or greater. Visitors can view the church's distinctive Victorian bell tower built in the mid-1800s and its interior featuring a Mudéjar-style coffered ceiling, as well as access the adjacent Museo Colonial in the partially preserved convent.
