The Sibelius Monument is an abstract steel sculpture by artist Eila Hiltunen, consisting of over 600 hollow steel pipes welded together in a wave-like pattern, dedicated to Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Unveiled in 1967, the monumental work (measuring 8.5 by 10.5 by 6.5 metres and weighing 24 tonnes) was designed to capture the essence of Sibelius's music, with a bronze portrait of the composer added beside the main sculpture. Visitors can view this striking modernist monument in Sibelius Park, which also contains other notable sculptures including the Kalevala Monument and a World War II memorial.
