What to expect
You'll step off the tender directly onto gravel streets lined with rusting machinery, collapsed miners' quarters, and the flooded cryolite pit itself. Your guide points out where the ore was loaded onto ships bound for Allied aluminum plants, and where German agents once tried to sabotage the operation. There are no fences, no crowds — just wind, ravens, and a town frozen mid-abandonment.

Weather-dependent tender landing; wear waterproof boots as the ground is uneven and often wet. Return to the pier at least 60 minutes before all-aboard as tender capacity is limited.
