Climb the near-vertical right bank above the Rhone by tram through Cote-Rotie, the terraced vineyard that gives the northern Rhone its name, with commentary on the terroir from a guide
What to expect
From Ampuis the tram climbs the terraced right bank of the Rhone into Cote-Rotie - the 'roasted slope' - where the vines are cut into steps so steep they cannot be worked by machine. A guide talks you through the terroir as you go. The commentary is in French only. Note the operator has suspended the wine tasting for now, so book this expecting the ride and the vineyard, not a glass at the end.
Good to know
French-language commentary only. Saturdays at 10h and 11h, 15 Aug - 24 Oct. Adult 8.50 EUR, child 4-16 4 EUR, family pack 20 EUR. A version with a tasting at Domaine Barge is 19.50 EUR - but the operator has suspended the tasting for now, so book the tour expecting the ride only. No payment on site; book online up to 10 minutes before departure. Not wheelchair accessible.
