You're driven in an open Land Rover up rough farm tracks with sweeping views over the settlement and Elephant Jason Island offshore. At the top, albatross wheel in on thermals right past your head, and skua and giant petrel nests dot the tussock below. Few ship groups make it up here given the time it takes.
