What to expect
The path climbs gently over marram-grass dunes before opening onto a long stretch of pale sand backed by clear turquoise shallows, more reminiscent of the Caribbean than the Southern Ocean until the wind reminds you otherwise. Oystercatchers and the odd Magellanic penguin dot the shoreline. It's the best spot on the island for photographs without another visitor in frame.
