What to expect
You board a traditional wooden gozzo directly from Marina Grande's beach. The captain threads through sea arches and hidden coves invisible from land, stopping to swim off the boat in secluded inlets. At the Blue Grotto you transfer to a small rowboat for the low, narrow entrance into the luminous cave. The trip loops the whole island in roughly 3-4 hours.

Book the earliest slot (7:30-8am) to beat both crowds and the choppier afternoon sea; Blue Grotto closes if tide is too high, so build in flexibility before your ship's all-aboard time.
