What to expect
You'll walk a soft, mossy path past nesting skuas and scattered whale bones to a beach where multi-ton elephant seals lie in loose piles, occasionally rearing up to challenge each other. Penguins from both species porpoise in the shallows nearby. The naturalist keeps the group moving in a loose loop so everyone gets close, quiet time at both colonies.
Good to know
Landing craft numbers are limited, so groups rotate in shifts — arrive at the gangway promptly when your shift is called to maximize time ashore before the return cutoff.
