A private, expert-led walk through this rainforest sanctuary rehabilitating orphaned and rescued chimps — Sierra Leone's most important conservation story, told by the people living it.
What to expect
You'll drive up into the forested hills above Freetown to the sanctuary gates, then walk the enclosure trails as keepers explain each chimp's rescue story. Feeding time draws the animals close, and staff discuss the sanctuary's fight against bushmeat and pet trades. It's roughly 45-60 minutes from Tokeh by road, so this fills most of a day.
Good to know
Requires an early start since it's over an hour each way from Tokeh; book the private slot at least a few days ahead and confirm return timing against all-aboard.
