Djúpavík Village & Abandoned Herring Boat Photography Walk

A self-paced but guide-supported wander through the tiny village itself — its handful of houses, the rusting herring boat wreck, and the fjord backdrop.

What to expect

You stroll past a scattering of houses, an old church, and the beached wreck of a herring boat rusting in the shallows, all beneath the dramatic backdrop of the factory and mountains. Locals may be out tending gardens or chatting outside the hotel. It's unpolished and real, the opposite of a curated attraction, and best experienced slowly with a camera in hand.

Good to know

Everything is within a 15-minute walk of the pier; combine with the factory tour for a full morning. No booking needed for the free walk.
