Whale & Iceberg Boat Tour with Captain Jim Jones

Head out on the water with a lifelong Labrador sea captain who has run cargo and tour boats along this coast for decades. Humpbacks, minkes, and (in season) icebergs drift past in open water few ever see.

What to expect

You'll leave the dock in a working boat, not a tour barge, weaving past skerries and open Labrador Sea swell. Jim narrates as much or as little as you want — decades of local knowledge on currents, ice, and whale behavior. Sightings aren't guaranteed but are frequent in season, and the scale of the icebergs up close is genuinely humbling. It's as much about the coastline and solitude as the wildlife itself.

Good to know

Best in late spring/early summer for icebergs, summer for whales. Dress warmly regardless of season — open water is cold even in July. Confirm departure point and return timing carefully against ship's schedule.
