For those doing a pre- or post-cruise extension, stay in one of the Trust's original 19th-century cottages, restored with period furnishings and no modern distractions.
What to expect
Once the last tour boat departs, the settlement empties out and it's just overnight guests, staff, and the sound of the harbour. Dinner is simple, fish-centric, and communal. Mornings bring soft light over the water and the chance to walk the grounds before anyone else arrives. It's less an excursion than total immersion in an outport that time has largely passed by.
Good to know
Not feasible as a same-day cruise excursion — only realistic if your cruise has an overnight call or you're extending your trip. Book cottages well in advance; availability is limited and season is short (June–September).
