A hilltop cultural encounter on the site of an ancient tribal village, hosted by descendants of the original chiefs, with panoramic lagoon views and an authentic umukai feast.
What to expect
You're welcomed with a conch shell call and led through restored marae (sacred ceremonial grounds) shaded by banyan trees, hearing oral history of tribal warfare and reconciliation. Lunch is an earth-oven umukai feast — pork, taro, breadfruit — eaten overlooking the entire western coastline. A dance performance closes the visit.
Good to know
Tours run late morning; transport pickup can be arranged from the port. Wear closed shoes for uneven ground. Book a day ahead, especially on cruise days when spots fill fast.
