What to expect
You're sorted into a small advanced group (often under 15) with a lead and sweep guide, climbing steadily over loose scree and tundra to the 536-metre summit. From the top on a clear day you can see the full outline of the island against the Barents Sea and, occasionally, ice at the horizon. Descent is the same route, taken carefully.
