Historic Trapper's Hut & Whaling Ruins Coastal Walk

A short guided walk to the weathered remains of early 20th-century trapper huts and whaling-era relics scattered along the shore.

What to expect

Walking in a loose small group, your guide points out the remains of trapper cabins used by Norwegian hunters wintering here in the early 1900s, along with rusted whaling equipment left from earlier industrial visits. It's stark and moving rather than polished — no reconstruction, just weathered ruins against the tundra and sea.

Good to know

Terrain is uneven with sharp rusted metal in places; watch footing closely. Best done earlier in the landing window before weather turns.
