Annonciade Museum: Fauvist & Pointillist Masters in a Former Chapel

A small, uncrowded museum in a deconsecrated chapel holding an outsized collection of Signac, Matisse, and Bonnard — the art that first made St-Tropez famous, decades before the yachts.

What to expect

Housed in a 16th-century chapel just steps from the port, the museum's compact rooms trace how Signac's arrival in 1892 drew the Pointillists and later Fauves to paint this exact harbor. Matisse's and Derain's canvases of the same waterfront you just walked through make the connection between place and painting immediate.
