Kuroshio no Mori Mangrove Kayak at Dawn

Paddle a two-person canoe through Japan's second-largest mangrove tunnel as the tide and morning light are at their best, guided by a naturalist who reads the tides.

What to expect

You'll be fitted with a life vest and given a short paddling lesson before entering the mangrove channel, which shifts dramatically with the tide. Guides point out fiddler crabs, mudskippers, and migratory birds along the way. The forest canopy closes overhead in places, creating a cathedral-like hush broken only by paddle strokes. Sessions are timed to the tide chart, so the earliest slot of the day often has the calmest water and best light.

Good to know

Book the first departure (usually 8am) directly by phone or the park's contact form; a taxi from Naze port takes about 20 minutes. Wear water shoes and quick-dry clothing — you will get splashed.
