Glide along Montevideo's magnificent 22 km Rambla — one of the world's great urban waterfronts — on a private guided cycling journey from the Old City to Pocitos Beach, taking in the full sweep of the Río de la Plata at its most luminous.
What to expect
Mount a quality city bike and set off along the broad seaside promenade as the Río de la Plata shimmers in the morning light — so vast it resembles an ocean horizon. Your guide narrates the neighbourhoods as they unfold: the fortified walls of the Old Port, the elegant Parque Rodó, the sun-drenched strand of Pocitos packed with joggers and mate-sipping retirees. Stop at a beachside café for a coffee and medialunas before looping back through the leafy Punta Carretas neighbourhood. The total route is approximately 12–15 km at a leisurely pace.
Good to know
Orange Bike is a short taxi from the port (~USD 5). Morning departures (8–9 am) are recommended for cooler temperatures and the best light on the water. Allow 3 hours. Excursion is weather-dependent — confirm the morning of your port call.
