Trek into the verdant valleys above Skjolden with a llama companion carrying your picnic, guided by Norway's most delightfully unexpected farm experience — rated the #1 attraction in Skjolden on TripAdvisor. Gentle, joyful and utterly unique to this corner of the fjords.
What to expect
You meet your llama at the farm on the valley floor, receive a brief handling tutorial, and then set off into the hills on a trail that winds through wildflower meadows and patches of birch forest. Your guide — the farm's owner — shares the history of the farm and the wildlife of the Luster valley with easy, unhurried expertise. The llama carries your picnic basket; your only job is to take in the ever-widening panorama of the Sognefjord below and the snowcapped Jotunheimen peaks above. It is, quite simply, one of the most charming hours you will spend in Norway.
Good to know
The farm is a short walk or taxi from the cruise pier — easily reached independently. Rated #1 on TripAdvisor Skjolden; book via the farm directly (contact via TripAdvisor listing) well in advance of your port day as groups are small by design. Trek duration approximately 1.5–2.5 hours; excellent for all fitness levels. Bring sunscreen and a camera.
