Explore the 8th-century Hindu temple complex of Po Nagar with a private local historian before the midday crowds arrive. These four soaring brick towers, still an active place of worship, are among the finest surviving Cham monuments in Southeast Asia.
What to expect
Your guide meets you dockside and transfers you by private car to the hilltop complex overlooking the Cai River estuary. You enter the tallest tower — dedicated to the goddess Po Nagar — where devotees still light incense and present offerings. Your historian decodes the bas-relief carvings and explains why the Cham Empire traded with Java, China, and India from this very site. The visit concludes at the on-site museum before a scenic riverside drive back to port.
Good to know
The site is a short 10-minute drive from the cruise pier. Cover shoulders and knees (or borrow a wrap at the gate). Arrive by 08:30 for the quietest experience. Combine easily with a Long Son Pagoda visit in the same half-day.
