Climb the 'Hill of Men' and the 'Hill of Women' — twin sacred peaks woven into Khmer legend — for panoramic sunrise views over a sea of temple spires and the distant Mekong. A private guide brings the ancient love story to vivid life.
What to expect
Your guide collects you at dawn and transfers you the 7 km to the twin hills. You ascend Phnom Pros first, where guardian lion statues flank the stairway and a gilded stupa crowns the summit, then cross to Phnom Srei, whose slightly higher vantage gives breathtaking views over rice paddies and rubber plantations dissolving into morning mist. The guide recounts the legend in full — a building contest between men and women that determined which sex would court the other — before a relaxed return to the river for breakfast.
Good to know
A 7 km tuk-tuk or car ride from the pier; budget 3 hours including transfers. Modest dress required — shoulders and knees covered. The climb involves approximately 200 steps per hill; sturdy sandals or light trainers recommended. Pre-book your guide the evening before for a 5:30–6:00 am departure.
