Glacier Dog Sledding via Helicopter — Knik Glacier

Helicopter over the vast Knik Glacier, land on ancient ice, and mush your own sled dog team across a frozen wilderness. This is Alaska at its most primal and exhilarating — a true once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list moment.

What to expect

A helicopter lifts you from Palmer or Anchorage and banks over crevasse fields before setting down on Knik Glacier's surface. A team of Iditarod-bred huskies awaits — you'll take the helm and mush across the ice under expert guidance. After the run, meet the pups and hear mushers' stories of Iditarod racing. The return flight delivers panoramic views of the Chugach and the Cook Inlet.

Good to know

Pre-book well in advance — capacity is extremely limited and summer dates sell out months ahead. Flight time is approximately 30–40 min each way; total experience runs 3–4 hours. Dress in warm layers regardless of forecast; the glacier is 20°F colder than Anchorage. Confirm all-aboard time allows a 5-hour window.
