Byzantine Mystras & Ancient Sparta: Lost Empire Day Tour

Stand inside a real, UNESCO-listed Byzantine ghost city clinging to a Taygetos mountainside, then walk the agora of ancient Sparta — two lost civilisations in a single extraordinary day from port.

What to expect

Departing port by luxury coach, you reach Sparta in under an hour to view the archaeological site and museum before heading uphill to Mystras. The fortified Byzantine capital — abandoned in 1832 — cascades down a rocky spur: intact frescoed churches, a despot's palace, and sweeping views of the Evrotas valley reward every step. A leisurely lunch break in a local taverna is included before the return drive along the dramatic Laconian coast.

Good to know

6-hour tour; wear sturdy, flat shoes — Mystras involves steep cobbled paths. Book well in advance in peak season (May–September). All-aboard comfortably met with 30+ minutes to spare.
