Float across the harbour to the 15th-century Venetian sea castle perched on its own tiny island — one of Greece's most photographed fortresses and a near-mythical silhouette against the Argolic Gulf. Few experiences in the Peloponnese are as romantic or as exclusive.
What to expect
The short, scenic crossing takes just five minutes, and the approach to the three-towered castle rising straight from the sea is breathtaking. Once ashore, you explore the Venetian battlements, the inner courtyard, and the cannon terraces that once controlled the entire harbour. The blue-green water surrounding the island invites a quick swim from the rocks on a warm day. Return boats run to your schedule, leaving the rest of your port day free.
Good to know
Boat transfers depart from the main harbour quay, a 5-minute walk from the cruise tender/dock. Most boats run 09:00–18:00 in season. The island itself is compact — allow 45–60 min. Combine with a Syntagma Square coffee before or after.
