Fakarava South Pass: Drift Dive with 700 Gray Reef Sharks

Slip into the legendary Garuae or Tumakohua Pass and drift alongside a wall of 700+ gray reef sharks in one of the world's most extraordinary dives. This UNESCO Biosphere Reserve pass dive is the single most iconic thing you can do in all of French Polynesia.

What to expect

You drop into turquoise water and within minutes a living curtain of gray reef sharks appears, flowing effortlessly through the current. Your dive master signals the group to hover neutrally at depth as Napoleon wrasse, grouper, and tuna weave through the spectacle. The drift carries you gently through the pass as blacktip sharks circle below and coral gardens flash past. Surface with your heart pounding and a story you'll tell for the rest of your life.
