Walk the legendary Sentiero degli Dei — the Path of the Gods — a cliff-edge trail suspended between sky and sea with views that reduce even seasoned travellers to silence. Led by an expert local guide, this is the single most iconic hour of walking in all of southern Italy.
What to expect
The trail begins high above Bomerano and follows an ancient mule path along sheer terraced cliffs, with Positano, Li Galli islands, and Capri laid out beneath you like a painting. Your guide shares the mythology, the medieval history of the spice trade, and the names of the wildflowers underfoot. The path descends into Nocelle, where a family-run terrace serves cold limoncello and local bruschetta. A private minibus returns you to Amalfi in time for all-aboard.
Good to know
The trail is moderate — approximately 7.8 km with 500 m descent. Wear proper walking shoes; trainers are acceptable but hiking boots preferred. Book well in advance (April–October fills fast). Confirm the ship's all-aboard time: allow 1.5 hours from Nocelle back to port.
