Go behind the scenes at the Philippines' premier crocodile rescue facility, home to the legendary 6-metre saltwater crocodile Lolong's legacy and over 900 endemic Palawan species. A private naturalist guide unlocks access far beyond the standard visitor experience.
What to expect
The Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center sits just minutes from the city centre, making it perfect for a morning excursion. Your private guide narrates the remarkable conservation history as you walk through enclosures housing Philippine crocodiles, Palawan bearcat, sea turtles, and exotic birds — many rescued from illegal wildlife trade. The highlight is the breeding lagoon, where massive saltwater crocodiles glide under the boardwalk beneath your feet. A visit to the on-site butterfly garden and medicinal plant nursery rounds out a surprisingly rich two-hour experience.
Good to know
Located only 15 minutes from the cruise pier — excellent as a standalone morning visit or combined with the Honda Bay island hop. The centre opens at 8 AM. Photography is encouraged. Wear light, breathable clothing as the outdoor enclosures have little shade.
