Glide by private water taxi to Vlichos — Hydra's most coveted beach — and settle into a sun lounger at a clifftop taverna with cold Assyrtiko in hand and nothing but turquoise Saronic sea ahead. Pure, effortless Mediterranean luxury.
What to expect
The five-minute water taxi skims along Hydra's pine-clad coastline before depositing you at Vlichos, a pebble cove sheltered by rocky headlands. Sun loungers are set directly over the sea on a wooden terrace; the water below is so clear you can count the pebbles at four metres depth. The taverna serves grilled octopus, fresh salads, and ice-cold local wine — unhurried, unspoilt, and utterly Greek. Return water taxis run frequently so you can time your departure to the minute.
Good to know
Water taxis depart from the main Hydra Harbour quay — simply negotiate directly with the skippers on the dock. Allow at least 3–4 hours at the beach to make the journey worthwhile. Keep a close eye on all-aboard time and build in a 30-minute buffer.
