Charter a private catamaran to the five coral-fringed islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park — just 15 minutes offshore — for world-class snorkelling over technicolour reefs, paddleboarding in gin-clear water, and a sundowner sail back to Jesselton Point.
What to expect
Board your private catamaran at Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal, a 10-minute taxi from the cruise pier. The skipper navigates to the marine park's prime snorkel sites — where blacktip reef sharks, sea turtles, and parrotfish are routine sightings in 10–15 m visibility. Between dives, kayak the island's jungle fringe or paddleboard in the turquoise lagoon. A freshly prepared lunch of local seafood is served on deck. The return sail at golden hour, with Mount Kinabalu visible on the horizon, is a photographer's dream.
Good to know
Departure from Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal — allow 15 minutes transit from the cruise terminal. Charter schedules can be tailored to your all-aboard time. Marine park entry fee (RM 15–RM 20 per person) is payable locally. Advance booking strongly advised; private charters fill quickly on port days.
