Paddle a sea kayak through the mirror-still coves and kelp-draped headlands of Resolution Island's sheltered bays — a meditative, supremely intimate way to meet the Arctic Ocean on its own terms. The silence and scale are unlike anywhere else on Earth.
What to expect
After a thorough dry-suit fitting and on-shore paddle briefing, you launch into water of extraordinary clarity — the Arctic light refracting through emerald depths. Your guide reads the tidal flow, routing you into sheltered coves where ring seals haul out on low ledges and Arctic terns dive-bomb the shallows for capelin. The physical effort is moderate — ideal for confident beginners — and frequent rest-and-observe pauses mean the experience prioritises wonder over workout. Hot thermos drinks and energy provisions are carried in the kayak hatches.
Good to know
No prior sea-kayak experience is required; a 20-minute shore orientation is sufficient. Paddlers must be comfortable in a dry suit (training provided). The excursion is weather-dependent — your guide will confirm go/no-go on the morning of the excursion. All-aboard time must be communicated clearly to the guide before departure.
