Plunge into the Parrachos de Maracajaú, Brazil's finest nearshore reef system, teeming with sea turtles, rays and technicolour reef fish. A private guided dive just 7 km offshore — one of South America's great underwater bucket-list moments.
What to expect
A private transfer whisks you 65 km north of Natal to the coastal village of Maracajaú, where your certified dive guide briefs you aboard a nimble speedboat. The Parrachos reef rises to just 1–3 metres below the surface at low tide, producing startling visibility and warmth (28 °C year-round). You'll drift over gardens of brain coral, finger coral and sea fans while green sea turtles graze beneath you. Two dives are typically included; a fresh coconut and light seafood snack on the return journey seal the experience.
Good to know
Conditions are best at low tide — confirm tidal times with the operator when booking. Non-divers can snorkel the same site. The drive from port is approximately 1 hour; plan for a full-day outing to be comfortable. Dive certification required; the operator can arrange a certified discovery dive (baptism) for beginners.
