Journey to the mythical iron-rich lagoon whose amber-red waters genuinely resemble the famous soft drink, then follow the wild south coast to secluded Love Beach (Praia do Amor) — one of Brazil's most photographed surf coves. Utterly otherworldly.
What to expect
Your private air-conditioned vehicle heads south from Natal, passing the dune-fringed coast to Lagoa de Jacumã, where the water's extraordinary tea-red hue — caused by naturally high concentrations of iron and iodine from the surrounding vegetation — makes every photograph look filtered. A zipline over the lagoon is optional (highly recommended). The route continues to Praia do Amor near Pipa, where dramatic red-ochre cliffs frame a perfect horseshoe of surf; the viewpoint at sunset (or mid-afternoon light) is breathtaking. A seafood lunch at a clifftop restaurant overlooking the Atlantic is included in premium itineraries.
Good to know
This is a full-day excursion — allow 8–9 hours. Jacumã is approximately 70 km south of Natal; Pipa is a further 20 km. Confirm your all-aboard time and build in 90 minutes' return buffer. Zipline over the lagoon is operated on-site; book the private tour in advance and mention you want it included. Bring reef-safe sunscreen — the lagoon ecosystem is fragile.
