Paddle a sea-kayak through the flooded rainforest of Gatun Lake — the world's largest man-made lake at its creation — and glide past Barro Colorado Island, where capuchins and howler monkeys peer down from the canopy.
What to expect
Transfer to Gamboa (45 min from Balboa), where kayaks and full safety briefing await on the lakeshore. You paddle through partially submerged trees that now form the lake's skeleton, emerging into open channels dotted with tropical birds. Your naturalist guide identifies species from the kayak with minimal noise. A mid-paddle snack of fresh tropical fruit and coconut water is served on a floating dock. The return paddle is downstream with the gentle current.
